Some cities sleep.
Then there is Basel.
Beneath the majestic vaults of Elisabethen Church, the legend of Basel awakens once again!
One winter night in 2026, as Basel prepares to celebrate its carnival, the mysterious Time Regulator turns back the hands of time. The audience is then transported back to 1816, ‘the year without a summer’, when Margaret and Christoph meet to help the most disadvantaged.
But an error tears the great Book of Time apart… and reality falters.
In 1823, when carnival is reborn, the two young people meet again. However, rivalries between Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft are rumbling, and from the depths of the Rhine, the sleeping Basilisk awakens. The world freezes, and it is up to the couple to try to mend the broken threads of history.
A visual and sensory journey, between dream and legend, into the heart of Basel’s history.
