What is The Forgotten Legend of Basel?
It is a large-scale immersive sound-and-light show combining projections, holograms, live performers, aerial acrobatics and storytelling, staged inside the Offene Kirche Elisabethen in Basel. It mixes Basel’s legends, history and mythology through the story of Christoph, Margaret and the Basilisk.
Who is the director of the show?
The show is directed by Damien Fontaine, an internationally renowned creator of multimedia productions who has captivated more than 15 million spectators worldwide.
How long does the show last?
The show lasts about 1 hour.
Is the show immersive?
Yes. The experience includes 360° projection, artists, holograms, a multipoint sound system, aerial performances and light effects covering the entire church.
When does the show take place?
From 9 January to 18 February 2026.
How many performances are there?
Between 3 and 4 performances per evening, for a total of 114 shows.

Where can I buy tickets?

Can I buy tickets at the box office?
No. There are no on-site ticket sales. Tickets must be purchased online only through the official website.
I am ill or otherwise unable to attend the performance. What are my options?
Tickets are strictly non-refundable, and no cancellation insurance is offered.
However, you may give your ticket to someone else if you are unable to attend.
What are the ticket prices?

Is there simultaneous translation?
Yes. Headsets are available for simultaneous translation into English.
Is there a recommended age?
The show is recommended for ages 6 and up.
Is the show suitable for children?
Yes, from age 6. The atmosphere is immersive but not frightening.
Is the venue heated?
The show takes place in a church; temperatures may vary. We recommend wearing warm clothing.
Are seats assigned?
Yes. All ticket categories include assigned and numbered seating. Your exact seat number is indicated on your ticket.
Is there a restroom?
Yes. Restrooms are available on the upper floor.
Please note that they are not accessible to wheelchair users.
Is there a cloakroom?
No, there is no cloakroom available inside the venue. Please avoid bringing large bags, backpacks or bulky items.

Are there restrictions as to what I can bring in?
Yes. Bags, backpacks and any items larger than DIN A4, as well as umbrellas, are strictly not allowed inside the church. As there is no cloakroom, these items will be taken for safekeeping by the security team and returned only at the end of the performance.
The organiser declines all responsibility in case of theft, loss or damage to any confiscated items. Please follow the instructions of the staff at all times.
Is photography allowed?
Photography is permitted only from your assigned seat, without moving around, without flash, and without a tripod.
Please ensure that you do not disturb other audience members and always follow the instructions of the staff.
When does the venue open before the performance?
The doors open 20 minutes before the start of the show.
Please arrive in time. Entrance remains possible up to 10 minutes after the show has begun. Latecomers will not be admitted once the doors are closed.
To respect the production guidelines and avoid disturbing the artists and audience, re-entry may require waiting until the next suitable moment. In addition, you are not entitled to your booked seat until there is a potential interval in the performance.
I have lost something during the show, what now?
If you have lost an item, please contact the production team using the contact form available on the event’s official website.
Be as precise as possible when describing the lost object (colour, size, brand, distinctive features, approximate location, date and time of your visit).

Who is Damien Fontaine?
Damien Fontaine is an internationally acclaimed French director and creator of large-scale multimedia shows that have captivated more than 15 million spectators worldwide. His productions blend cutting-edge visual technologies, live performance, historical narratives and local legends. He has received multiple awards, including five Lumières Trophies at the Fête des Lumières in Lyon.

- Ventil’oh: luminous kites evoking the Basilisk.
- The Time Setter: a stilt performer guiding spectators through key moments.
